CORE - California is the principal sponsor of the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade in Los Angeles. Founded 27 years ago by Larry Grant, this parade has grown to be the largest Martin Luther King Jr. birthday celebration in the country, with 3.5 million viewers. The two and a half mile parade, through the heart of south Los Angles, is broadcast live, for two hours, from start to finish by K-ABC 7. Nearly, a half million spectators line the route down King Blvd and Crenshaw with over nine thousand parade participants. The parade features local talent, national celebrities, marching bands and dignitaries and it is second only to the Rose Parade.

Adrian Dove, chairman of CORE - California emphasized the mule-drawn wagon cortege each years pays special tribute to Dr. King and his dream which will never die.
